Deflecting Senators
Senator Arlen Spector of Pennsylvania has deflected from the Republican party. Really?!! He broke his parties back by joining the 2 other republicans in passing the stimulus bill worth trillions of dollars. His lack of leadership and arrogant persona forced his constituencies to find another candidate. He weilded his power for the democrats under the republican name by choice. He secretly brokered deals with democrats to defeat the republicans all the while being dubbed a republican. His actions are purely based out of political survival. He knew that by brokering deals with democrats, especially on the stimulus bill would ultimately defeat the image of republican and thus changing sides will allow him to run against the next GOP condidate in Pennsylvania and potentially spend another 4 years in the Senate under the name of a democrat.
I am stunned at the ability of Senators to turn their backs on their constituents and still maintain a position of office. What I do not understand is how the GOP caucus even ran with this guy in '06. If he is so much of a deflector he does not belong in politics. However since politics are about votes and tenure, he is perfectly satisfied to be a democrat as long as he continues to collect his paycheck straight out of America's wallets. Regardless of party lines if you are against the ideas and foundations of a particular party and you run your campaign as something that you are not, there should some type of reprecussions and a replacement for your Senate seat. People of a particular faction did not vote you in to back stab them. You literally kill all aspirations of being a future Senator if you switch parties. It is absurd that the GOP does not have anything that will prevent Senators from being bought out and changing factions.
Here's the solution to the GOP problems. Stand on conservative values and foundations. People enjoy freedom and when you begin to give them more freedom they will repond positively. Therefore, conservative principles are the bedrock of the republican party. The republican party needs to turn their backs on people like Arlen Spector and accept people like Sarah Palin. Stop pandering to the other side of the aisle.

Democratic Inefficiencies
Taken from a FoxNews headline and I quote..."Allegations of ethics violations by Democrats in recent months have not made the same splash that they did a few years ago when Republicans were on the receiving end."
Now I pause for only a moment to gather my thoughts about why and how such violations are allowable under this type of economic condition? There are several allegations against key democrats that include lobbying for certain positions within the House and funneling TARP funds to a Senators husband's firm by writing legislation so that her husbands company could receive the government contract of over 25 billion tax payers dollars. Couple those more recent allegations with the tax evasion of several other key democrats and you have a thorough and clear view at most democratic agendas and their lack of abidance to their own laws. The secretary of Treasury had over 30 thousand dollars of unpaid taxes from over 5 years ago. The Ways and Means committee chairman (who is a leading democrat) is up against 4 different types of ethic violations alone. And the chairman handles the appropriations of our tax dollars? (A full description of what the Way and Means committee presides over can be found here).
In comparison to the democrats violations of this year, the republicans have had their own problems with the ethics committee. As the Washington Post reports the entire republican scandals can be traced to Jack Abramoff. He basically lobbyied politicians illegally and gave enormous gifts in return for governmental contracts etc. Republicans instead of taking the high road and admitting their wrong doing blatantly attempted a cover up which caused media circuses throughout America to jump on board and bash republicans. Thus republicans lost majorities in both House and Senate committees that are crucial to the financial turmoil America is in now.
How does republican smearing lead to democrat majorities? Easy its called the media!! The media alone progressed the democratic agenda by incessantly depicting Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff as career criminals. The media has not jumped on the bandwagon for depicting these democrats as career criminals even though each have a history with the ethics committee longer than the wrap sheet for any republican. i am frusterated by all of the blatant lies from both sides of the aisle and seek to purify our government by electing responsible and truthful politicians. And when those politicians overstep their ethics, they should be tried and convicted and placed in jail.

Byron Leftwich
I just read an op-ed about Byron Leftwich and how he got a bad deal here in Jacksonville, Florida and I am extrememly skeptical of the facts used to portray Leftwich as a starting QB in the NFL. You can read the entire op-ed here.
I want to reference just two parts of the editorial and make a few comments on the opposing side of the argument. First the article describes Leftwich's throwing motion as "slightly long delivery". An obvious mischaracterization of his actual throwing technique. I think Greg Cosell got it right when he characterized Leftwich's arm by saying..."Everything he does -- from his drop away from the center, to his plant and set in the pocket, to his delivery throwing the ball -- simply takes too long. It's too deliberate, too lengthy." Given this knowledge of a QB it is obvious why Jacksonville choose to go with David Garrard. He does not have any obstacles on the onset to limit the offensive coordinators ability to open the game up with short and quick west coast style offense. With that Jacksonville turned to their running game and thus the play action was set up for Byron; which typically freezes the defense for that extra spilt second for Bryon to deliver the ball. Since we know that Jacksonville's running attack was brutal through the tenure of Leftwich, it is easy to say that Jacksonville had to change their style of football to compliment the style and lack of technique from Leftwich. So did Jacksonville really oust Leftwich because they had a personal grudge against him or maybe it was because Leftwichs' technique and playing style handicapped the team?
Secondly, the article claims that Leftwich played in 46 games and started 42 games for Jacksonville alone. This is not an accurate statistic. The actual stats for Leftwich can be found by pressing ...here. According to the NFL Leftwich in '03 started 15 games, in 04' 14, in '05 11, in '06 just 6 games. If my math is correct and there are 16 game seasons, then Leftwich missed a total of 18 games as a "starter" for Jacksonville during the '03-'06 seasons. So why is the article concluding that Leftwich played in more games then he actually did is beyond me. At the fact sheet for Leftwich you will also find how many fumbles he had as a result of his "slightly long delivery". Just while playing in Jacksonville he had a total of 26 fumbles in 4 years. Now if you only look at games where he played over half the season he averages a fumble every 1.9 games he played in. Compare that to the elite QB's and you will find a gigantic discrepancy. For example Carson Palmer who played in more games over a 4 year stretch than Leftwich, averaged a fumble every 2.77 games. And thats with 15 more games over a 4 year span. In conclusion Leftwich sucks and NFL teams around the league have not signed him to a contract because of the aforementioned obstacles in his game. Thank God Jacksonville only gave this guy 4 chances!! Best of luck Tampa Bay, you will need it this year.

Newsweek lies about Christianity
Newsweek ran a front cover story about the death of christianity in American society. Then within a few days of that cover story hitting the shelves, Rasmussen did a poll asking several questions in relation to the validity of Jesus. Here is an excerpt of their findings. "...Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 88% of adults nationwide think the person known to history as Jesus Christ actually walked the earth 2,000 years ago." That is 5 points higher than last years numbers. In relation to the beliefs of Jesus and christianity Rasmussen found that, "Eighty-two percent (82%) also believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God who came to Earth and died for our sins. Another 10% think otherwise and 8% aren't sure. Nearly as many, 79% believe the central claim of the Christian faith--that Jesus Christ rose from the dead." How is this possible if Newsweek just told America that we do not believe in Jesus and are not a christian nation? This new data completely calls Newsweek out to the carpet for further explanation of their findings and just how they came to claim that America no longer believes in christianity.
We as Americans that are christians or not, must stop outright lies from our news media. Both right and left agendas must come secondary to the truth. If in fact the Rasmussen findings are true, then Newsweek chief editor Christopher Dickey needs to be making several phone calls to ensure that Newsweeks methods of obtaining truth were not actually bias reporting. Same for Scott Rasmussen who also needs to make several more phone calls to ensure his reporting is not just in jest of Newsweeks magazine.
