The future is here. Movies, music and just about everything else entertaining is getting an overhaul for the online world. There are so many different websites to grab "only in theaters" movies that you can download and watch repeatedly. My boss just gave me two movies that hit theaters just this past weekend. Fast and Furious and X-Men Origins Wolverine. Amazing!!! The quality of the video is excellent and it appears to be a very good copy visually. The sound however is a little hard to hear due to the echo, but as the movie progresses at ludicrous speed, you hardly even notice. Technology is improving our lives everyday.
I want to pose a few questions as to the legalization of pirating movies. Every year 73% of Americans go to the Internet before going to the movies. Whether to check times of showings or just to see whats out there. As you can tell before even going to the movies people go to the Internet for additional information. If advertisement and marketing picks up and the government stays out of regulating the Internet, I believe that companies will begin to modernize the computer to cooperate with bootlegged movies. When this happens watch out for the free movies to become not so free!!
I want to know if there should be an independent council to conduct regulation on the Internet? Controlling not just content but also regulating the theft of copyrighted material. I personally think that movies should be legal to download if you have a subscription to a movie outlet. the average cost of making a movie with marketing and advertisement and actual production costs total over 105 million. In 2006 8% of Americans downloaded pirated digital files from the Internet. It is estimated that several millions of dollars were lost by the production company due to infringement of copyright and the "illegal downloading of digital movies and audio." Therefore, there are some negative costs associated with downloading pirated material. In turn the production company could begin to raise prices on the theater which to me will only make me actively search for alternatives to theaters and cinemas. Will it make you search?
Lastly, I want to complete my thoughts by saying that as a proud PS3 owner, I have been delighted to see that downloading movies and audio on the PS3 comes with media servers to locate the files from your network computer to the PS3 console via wireless connection. I have been very pleased with the ability of the new technology that has been coming out in recent years to combat the growing costs of movie production and marketing.
