I grew up religiously watching wrestling. Mainly WWE and ECW with the occassional WWF. I understand that wrestling is fake and that each part of the show has been completely scripted for my entertainment. Or atleast I just found out within the last 6 months that everything is scripted. I always knew that the fists and throws were fake to the extent that they are practiced over and over again to avoid any injuries, but I never thought the drama of the show was completely scripted with a few occassional off-the-cuff answers from the superstars. I am still an avid fan of wrestling even though i know it is completely fake. So my question is whether or not wrestling is really that entertaining or are my past experiences dictating what I enjoy?
Wrestling is uncomparable to any other sport I can think of. Many of these men that wrestle could have had very prosperous football or baseball careers but instead choose to entertain. I am not trying to say that other sports are not that entertaining, in fact quite the contrary. How or what makes wrestling so entertaining? Is it the 16 foot pile driver through three stacked tables from a 16 foot ladder for the wrestling championship possibly have anything to do with it? Maybe its the biggest athlete alive being thrown out of the ring by a much smaller and lesser individual? Either way somehow I still find it very entertaining.
